WHAT IS IT?
Youthful Body Tone, a DTM class for Strength, Stability & Springiness! An advanced 4-session workshop reserved for previous/current DTM students. 10 spots only. Due to the natue of the course, this class needs more direct supervision and interaction.
WHO IS IT FOR?
As equestrian athletes, we need to be supple and have positive tone. The tone portion can be in the form of skeletal strength and organization as we have found in other DTM courses, but there is also a muscular component. Still coordinating ideal usage of flexors and extensors, this course helps us find muscular strength, improved tone as well as and improved balance and stability. Some may feel a sense of empowerment and increased confidence both on and off their horses! Most riders feel that they. Can better sit deeply and up at the same time, feeling more immovable and solid! Most also feel a general improvement to the canter and overall feeling of more effectiveness.
Looking for ways to find and create ideal tone and strength for riders can be a difficult task. Many riders get lost in the sea of physical exercise that is available, also marketed for riders. I know I did! And I have seen far too many riders get mixed up in their riding by the wrong form of exercise. Almost always, the results are not ideal and cause extra work while riding, instead of establishing correct strengthening and then enjoying ideal biomechanics while riding. Strong in a good way, toned in a good way, still supple and soft! After searching the world-over (and regretting trying other programs and forms of training!), the best single program I found, was in Germany, taught by Feldenkrais Trainer Jeremy Krauss. It is called Solvents and Glue.
"What is Solvent & Glue: Lessons for strengthening, solidifying, and special toning. In this course you will learn effective movement lessons that are invigorating to the musculoskeletal system and are a fitting complement to classic Feldenkrais ATM. You will feel strength, stamina, solidity and a unique flexibility at the same time. These lessons were developed by Jeremy. We often use the Feldenkrais Method to make ourselves and others looser and more flexible; more ‘dissolved’, but some of us need more ‘glue’ to keep us together and solidify us. In this unique 4-day Advanced training there will be a large number of sequences of taught. The lessons and sequences can be taught and applied directly applied into your classes, private lessons and your own personal health and well-being. Sequences taught will be in standing, sitting, on the knees, in chairs and on the ground."
